Cristiano Ronaldo suffered one of the heaviest defeats of his professional career as Al Nassr were beaten 4-0 by Al Ain in the opening match of their Asian Champions League campaign.
The defeat was a difficult start for Al Nassr, but it also stood out for another reason: the result ranks among the biggest defeats Ronaldo has experienced since becoming a professional footballer.
Before this match, the Portuguese international had suffered five defeats by a four-goal margin during his career, with two coming during his time at Real Madrid, two at Manchester United and one with the Portugal national team.
Ronaldo’s two heaviest defeats remain the 5-0 losses suffered against Barcelona and Liverpool.
The first came on November 29, 2010, when Real Madrid were beaten 5-0 by Barcelona in El Clásico. Ronaldo started the match, but Real Madrid were completely outplayed by their rivals.
More than a decade later, during his second spell at Manchester United, Ronaldo experienced another 5-0 defeat. On October 24, 2021, Manchester United were beaten by Liverpool at Old Trafford, with the Portuguese forward unable to prevent a heavy home loss.
The 4-0 defeat against Al Ain now joins a list of some of the biggest losses of Ronaldo’s career.
